In the frightening dreams of a gentle little girl, the dead seem more alive than the living.
Certainly more alive than her mother, who drowns herself in alcohol every night. Than her father, who has retreated inside of himself and no longer says hello. But in her dreams, she is not alone. No, she is surrounded by ghouls. The delightful monsters of her imagination. The ones who have adopted her as family.
But then she begins seeing them out in the real world. More and more, at the bus stop, at her school, beneath her bed, in the hallways of her home. Figments of her imagination run rampant, holding conversations, staring at her with bloodshot eyes.
And as the lines between reality and imagination blur, she must make a choice.
Between her parents, to whom she is only a forgotten disappointment, and the dead, to whom she is queen…
